This project aimed to provide an initial assessment of the additional risks of statistical disclosure posed by the Grid. The research investigated the statistical disclosure risk issues arising out of the use of Grid technology for the storage, dissemination and analysis of data. The project consisted of three interrelated elements:
- An examination of the compatibility of confidentiality agreements across a number of key anonymised data sets that might be used as part of the Grid data resources e.g. BHPS, NCDS, BCS and the Census
- An investigation of the availability of data (both current and potential) across the grid networks. This investigation will analysed the linkability of this data in terms of issues such as quality and attribute commonality
- The development of methodologies for assessing disclosure risk posed by Grid-linked data and the development of pilot software implementing these methodologies
