Services
A number of services for social science research together with an initial underlying technical infrastructure are being developed by NCeSS. This work is being conducted for the project "An e-Infrastructure for the Social Sciences", which is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and runs from January 2007 to December 2009.
As well as the services, this section also contains information on relevant Services Research. This Strand is pushing developments in a number of areas, including User Environments, Workflow and the provision of Support Materials.
There are a number of services being developed by NCeSS that can be used as tools for social science research. These services will be available via:
- A social science portal, which provides a one-stop-shop for applications to assist in different aspects of social science, including tools for research and collaboration
- Extensions to statistics packages (e.g. R or Stata), which allow simultaneous access to multiple datasets for powerful on-line cross-dataset interrogation
- Reusable services for developers that provide opportunities for rapid development of new social science applications or extensions of existing applications to provide wider functionality that makes use of recent advances in computing technology.

Other Services
In aside to Services offered by NCeSS, the following Services may be of use to Social Scientists who are interested in e-Social Science or e-Science:
ReDReSS brings together and integrates all resources that are of value to the e-Social Scientist. Find, view and listen to relevant talks, demonstrations and information on all aspects of e-Science.
NeSC training NeSC's Training group leads the training activities of: Enabling Grids for e-Science (EGEE), The National Grid Service (NGS) and OMII-Europe
NeSC Wiki service - This service hosts wikis for projects associated with the UK e-Science community.
National Grid Service - The National Grid Service aims to provide coherent electronic access for UK researchers to all computational and data based resources and facilities required to carry out their research, independent of resource or researcher location.
